JACK'S SHOP
KITCHEN

At Jack’s Shop Kitchen, we serve lunch and dinner Monday through Friday, brunch and dinner on Saturdays, and brunch on Sundays.  The menu is a la carte with an often-changing, three-course, prix fixe dinner menu designed to highlight the seasons of the local Virginia farmer.

Jack’s Shop Kitchen calls home the former Massey Tractor Showroom, circa 1940. Later a manufacturing plant for Wrangler brand jeans, the building now hosts antique dealers on the floors above and below the restaurant.

You will find us at the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains in Greene County, Virginia fifteen minutes from Charlottesville near the scenic Skyline Drive, nestled among beautiful farms and vineyards.

CHEF ERIC BEIN

Fortunate to have great grandparents with a farm in the Hudson Valley, childhood vacations placed an indelible appreciation of the land along with the unconscious unity of the table and the family.  As he wandered the farm’s gardens he was introduced for the first time to the orderly expanse of shapes, colors, and textures all of which, to his amazement, were edible.  Family meals were lovingly and simply prepared, silently expressing appreciation for the good land and the hands that labored it. 

These experiences stimulated what Eric would later turn into a passionate hospitality career.  After graduating the Culinary Institute of America, Eric moved to New York City where he learned the practical details of running a world class kitchen from the finest in the culinary field.  Eric’s time off from his full-time job wasn’t spent enjoying the many attractions of New York City, but rather working and apprenticing for some of the city’s best chefs.

Packed with enthusiasm and motivation, Eric returned to his hometown of Sarasota. There he opened Station 400 Restaurants serving refined Brunch classics.  Later, in search of the agrarian lifestyle, Eric sold the Florida-based restaurant group and relocated his family to Madison County, VA in 2015.

Jack’s Shop Farm was created when the first 6 piglets were purchased in the fall.  Now an operational, grass based- rotational grazing farm, JSF enjoys the rhythms of caring for livestock, tending to the garden and enjoying the fine Virginia seasons.  Soon after, came the inevitable Jack’s Shop Kitchen.  The Chef/Farmer, needed a place to cook and share the bounty of the farm. By renovating the main floor in the Greene House Antique Shops, a Ruckersville landmark and former Massey Tractor showroom, he was now able to pay homage to the old while adding the new.  A state-of-the art kitchen, dining room and retail space featuring the best that Virginia has to offer. 

With Jack’s Shop Kitchen and Farm, Bein has come full circle in the beliefs which started as a young child lost on a farm.
